Auto Wholesalers’ Story
Auto Wholesalers was started in July 1973 by O. Kevin Canole on a small sales lot along 6th Avenue in Altoona, PA. Kevin was following in his father Owen’s footsteps who was a partner in a Buick dealership in Monessen, PA and Canole’s Used Cars in Altoona, PA. Kevin started by selling used cars and pickup trucks purchased from the Forestry Department and surplus cars being sold by the state. In the late 1970’s while attending a Bell Telephone surplus sale he decided to take a chance on purchasing some bucket trucks and as they say…the rest is history!
Auto Wholesalers relocated in 1982 to the current facility on 22 acres in Hollidaysburg, PA to accommodate the growing business. Auto Wholesalers specializes in many types of heavy trucks and equipment with our main focus being on used refuse equipment.
In 2009 at the age of 18 Kevin’s son, Matt officially joined Auto Wholesalers although he had been learning about the business since he was little.
For over 47 years Auto Wholesalers has been providing quality commercial trucks and equipment at affordable prices. We are centrally located between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg with Altoona Blair County and University Park airports being less than an hours away. We also offer delivery nationwide if needed!
Until Kevin’s passing in December 2020 he continued to come into the office and handle the purchases and sales on a day-to-day basis. Today Kevin’s son Matt has taken the helm and is proudly keeping the Auto Wholesalers legacy alive.
